There is a more direct way but it involves Nebraska

 ROAD TRIP!!

While driving Grandma’s 2000 Camry to Los Angeles to give to our son Mike we have decided to eat and drink at as many interesting spots as possible while still driving at least 8 hours per day. Our route will take us south from Fairfield, NJ to New Orleans and then across on I-10 through Texas and on to LA.

Casting about for a theme, we’ve decided to be guided by the James Beard Awards that Rick attended recently.  Because we do love to eat great food!  We’ve targeted some interesting and diverse lunch and dinner spots (see the Schedule page) and will do our best to check out interesting bars as well as breakfast spots.  And yes, one of us will blog and make the music choices while the other one drives.
